A Description of the Dialect of Normacot, Staffordshire
Description
A study of the dialect spoken in the village of Normacot in Staffordshire, based on data collected through fieldwork interviews with a married couple resident in the village. An introduction to the village is followed by three chapters which present a description of the sounds of the Normacot dialect, the dialectal representation of Middle English vowel sounds in stressed syllables recorded in 19[75], and a summary of the Norman equivalents of the stressed vowel sounds of Middle English. An Index and Word List are included.
