Student Traditions at Leeds University

Description

A study of student traditions at the University of Leeds, based on information collected from back copies of Leeds University's Students Union newspaper, 'Union News', and interviews with a former student, past President of the Union, and past and present members of staff. Five main chapters cover singing and songs (the University Song, the Chemist's Song, Student's song), University halls (Devonshire Hall, Mischief Night in the halls, Cavendish Hall), University Societies (Engineers and Lawyers, the Houldsworth Society, the lawyers), the University Rag and general University traditions (Annual General Meeting, uniform, the bar, flats, fish and chip shop, Hops, the formal Ball, the Freshers' Weekend).
