A Descriptive Account of the Sounds of the Present Day Speech of Gateshead
Description
A study of the dialect spoken in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, based on data collected through fieldwork interviews with six informants. An introduction to Gateshead, the informants, fieldwork technique and methodology, is followed by a chapter which records the vocoids of stressed and unstressed syllables, and contoids. An Index lists all the words recorded, with transcriptions and translations where necessary.
