The Games of Junior School Children

Description

A descriptive account of schoolchildren's games, with reference to the printed collections of a number of childlore scholars. Textual transcriptions are included, but it is unclear whether these were recorded by the collector during fieldwork. The geographical focus of the study is also unclear [N London is written in pencil on the title page]. The study is divided into ten chapters, with sections on conventions (vain-lights, dipping, punishment, taking colours), ball, skipping, chasing, progressive and competitive, acting and other playground games.
