Sheep-Farming and Initial Preparation of Wool in Iceland

Description

A study which gives an account of life on a sheep farm in Iceland. Its four chapters present a general history of the country, descriptions of Icelandic sheep (breeds, importation and the effect of foreign breeds, the nature of the fleece), a year on the farm (by season) and wool-making (washing of the wool, preparation of the wool for spinning, combing, carding and spinning). Photographs illustrate events in the farming year and implements used in the processing and spinning of wool.
