A General Survey of the Folklore Collected in the Area Between and Including Lichfield and Walsall

Description

A descriptive study (contemporary rather than historical) of the folklore of South Staffordshire, in the area between Lichfield and Walsall, based on folklore collected through a newspaper survey and questionnaire. Chapters describe the area, research methodology and a review of extant folklore literature relating to the area, followed by sections on tales, songs, a religious alphabet, riddles and a joke question, beliefs, childhood traditions and calendar customs.
