Two Generations of the Dialect of Kibblesworth, County Durham: A Synchronic Comparison

Description

A study of the dialect spoken in Kibblesworth, County Durham, based on interviews conducted with two male informants (aged sixty-nine and twenty-one) during Easter 1969. An introduction to the village and the two informants is followed by two chapters which present descriptions of the sounds of the Kibblesworth dialect (vowels and consonants), and a comparison of the dialects of the two informants (within the same vowel phonemes of stressed syllables, and between different vowel phonemes of stressed syllables). An Index of Words is included.
