Description
A study comprising seven chapters on the history of Newhaven, the clothing and duties of a Newhaven fishwife (including local recipes), penny or paying weddings, the Scottish Newhaven Fisherwomen's Choir, by-names (nicknames) and a Newhaven tale (local legend). A glossary of local words is included. Postcards, copy photographs, line drawings, newspaper and magazine articles and concert programmes are included throughout.
