Inns and Inn Signs
Description
A study of forty-five North London inns and their signs, and the roles they play(ed) in local history and geography. Sections provide a general introduction to the role of the inn, the brewery in medieval times, the role of inns and public houses in 1968, the inn sign, the sign-maker's medium, pub names and the design of the sign. Accompanying photographs show North London inn buildings and their signs.
