Description

A dissertation comprising the recollections of people living in Liverpool during World War Two, based on tape-recorded conversations with fifteen informants. Eleven sections comprise an Introduction, history of the city during the war, bombing stories, other stories (At Home, In the Forces, Home and Abroad), a comparison of similar narratives related by different informants, a section on rationing (at home, and in the Forces), the war spirit, humour, foreign labour, prisoners of war, allies, treatment of British troops, allied war mistakes, the blackout, lucky charms, V-E and V-J days.
