The Sound System of the Dialect of Cullercoats, Tyne and Wear
Description
A study of the dialect spoken in Cullercoats, Tyne and Wear, based on data collected through fieldwork interviews with two local informants. An introduction to the town and the informants is followed by three sections which record stressed vocoids, unstressed vocoids and consonants. A glossary contains explanations of a number of local words (with phonetic transcriptions), recorded in the preceding sections. An Index of all the words used as illustrations and examples in the study is also included.
