A Descriptive and Historical Study of the Dialect of Cardiff
Description
A study of the dialect spoken in the city of Cardiff, based on data collected through fieldwork interviews with two local informants, and a visit to a local school, Baden Powell Junior School. An introduction to the city and the informants is followed by five chapters which record the sounds of the dialect, the history of the development of vowels in stressed and unstressed syllables, the origins of modern vowel sounds (summary) and the consonants of the modern dialect. An Index and postcard print views of the city are included.
