The Living Dialect of Walton, Liverpool

Description

A study of the dialect spoken in the Walton area of Liverpool, based on data collected through fieldwork interviews with three local informants. An introduction to the area and the informants is followed by two chapters which record for Walton the sounds of the modern dialect (vowels of stressed syllables, consonants), and the development of Middle English vowels of stressed syllables in the modern dialect. A Word Index is included.
