The Living Dialect of Bilston
Description
A study of the dialect spoken in Bilston in the West Midlands, based on data gathered from the collector's family (two aunts in particular). An introduction to the town, illustrated with photographs, is followed by two chapters which transcribe phonemically the sounds of the dialect, and illustrate the development of Middle English sounds in the dialect. A Word List is included. An Appendix contains brief notes on verb expressions.
