Description
A study of Gypsy Traveller folklore, based on interviews with Eli Frankham, from the Gypsy Traveller community, living in Norfolk. Eight chapters present a brief history of the Gypsy Travellers, a biography of the informant, Gypsy Traveller traditions and customs, hygiene and medicinal beliefs, the Gypsy Traveller communities social position in the nineteenth century, changes to the Gypsy Traveller way of life in the twentieth century, and the position of a modern Gypsy Traveller. An Appendix contains a number of Romany words, represented in standard English orthography.
