Description
Male speaker [?originally from Norfolk], recorded in Wellingborough; recites a selection of narratives (monologues and anecdotes), a poem by C. L. Lewis, and poems from a volume of Norfolk dialect verse written by John Kitt. The informant announces the title of each item. [Tr. 2] Informant recites further examples of John Kitt's dialect verse; followed by a number of stories/anecdotes and monologues relating to Norfolk life, from Jonathan Mardle's [pseudonym, i.e. Eric Fowler] 'Broad Norfolk', and Sidney Grape's 'The Boy John Letters'. The latter is a selection from the Boy John letters to the 'Eastern Daily Press' (1946-1958), in Norfolk dialect, published by the 'Norfolk News Company' [?in 1959]. [Tr. 1]
