Description
Stanley Ellis discusses some of the main changes in the English language during the last one thousand years, illustrated with readings from passages written by King Alfred, Geoffrey Chaucer and William Shakespeare. This extract was Band 2.1, Variation in Time, on a cassette Phonetics, Accents and Dialects, which formed part of Block 1 of the Open University's Second Level Course (E263), Language in Use. The cassette was produced by Jack Clegg and David Graddol.
