Jack White and Mrs. Jack White in conversation at their home in the Stannington area of Sheffield. Talk of family members; informant's birthplace; Castleton Wakes; haytime; schooling at Lydgate in Sheffield; local legend concerning the taking of gravestones from a local Quakers' Burial Ground, and the resultant souring of milk; Christmas; singing at the Three Merry Lads pub, Lodge Moor in Sheffield; local singers; discussion of the song 'Fulwood Farmers and Neighbours'. [Tr. 1] Margaret Marsden of Fulwood, Sheffield, recorded by Leslie Howarth in or around 1962. Sings 'Green Mossy Banks of the Lea', 'Betsy the Serving Maid' and 'Broken Token'. [Tr. 2]. This recording is a copy of Howarth's original, made by Ian Russell with the permission of Colin Howarth.
