Eight/nine year old girls and boys, recorded at Our Lady's Primary School in Leeds, talk about learning songs and jokes (sources include the television, comics, family and friends); the appeal of the jokes; who they tell jokes to. [Tr. 2] Three groups of children, recorded at Weetwood Church of England Primary School, tell jokes, talk about from where they learned them (comics, books); give examples of knock knock jokes, limericks, school song (parody) and other clapping game songs.
