Description
Cecilia Costello, recorded singing and in conversation at home in Birmingham; sings/recites the words to a large number of popular songs, many of which are fragments only. She talks about old songs and singing; her father singing; sings 'The Cruel Mother'; her singing as a child/teenager; recites and sings 'Lisa's Wedding' and 'Black-Eyed Susan'; talks about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and the songs and rhymes she has taught to the former; sings unidentified songs [some fragments], including talk of a song known to the singer as 'The Cock' [the collector knows it as 'The Grey Cock'], her own and her eldest son's singing, and the stories of some of the songs known to her; recites and sings a verse from 'Don't Go Down the Mine Dad'; her son singing in pubs; sings/recites a number of unidentified song fragments; sings 'Kitty Wells', followed by more song fragments.
