[Collector announcement]; Thomas Rippen, recorded in Chawleigh; talks about his age; his homes; working with his father, tying corn, at the age of eight; horse-drawn reaping machine; recollections of last local man to cut corn by hand; threshing; driving horses on a horse wheel, to power a threshing machine; ploughing with horses; farm waggons; sowing corn; yields/quality of corn; sheep farming - care of lambs and ewes; cattle and calving; size of beef herd; milk and dairy products; fireplace/oven - baking bread in an oven fuelled by wood faggots [shows collector the oven]; describes pig-killing, curing in salt and hanging (bacon and hams).
