[Tr. 7] [Collector announcement]; Mr. Cleave of Uplowman talks about his birthplace ( Bampton); parents and grandparents; gardening; milking cows by hand; schooling; farm work as a child; manual labour; mechanisation; the drought of 1975/1976. [Tr. 8] [Collector announcement]; Mr. Legg of Cadeleigh talks about farming; Jersey cattle; his upbringing in Dorset; pastimes; the church choir; cattle driving; parents. [Tr. 9] Mr. Shapland of Tiverton talks about Devon dialect; his role as Mayor of Tiverton in 1973; farming practices. [Tr. 10] [Collector announcement]; Mr. Hill of Tiverton talks about farming practices and intensive methods. [Tr. 11] This tape also includes interviews with Mr. Broomfield, Mr. Suthern and Mr. Berry (all of Holcombe Rogus). Excessive tape squeal, due to the dry nature of the tape surface, has meant it has not been possible to produce a summary/copy of these recordings. The earlier interviews are likewise affected by intermittent tape squeal. 3 of 6.
