Description
Compilation of extracts from field recordings made between 1953 and 1959 as part of the Survey of English Dialects, dubbed and edited from gramophone disc copies by Reg Ross of the University of Leeds. The date(s) when this copying was done is/are unknown. General announcement [?by Philip Tilling]. Each of the six extracts is preceded by an announcement, stating the name of the collector, location, age and occupation of the informant. The recordings were made in Steeple Aston, Hanbury, Farndon, Little Bentley, Ashwellthorpe and Welford. The speakers talk about agricultural and domestic work.
