Description
Martin Flannery, interviewed in his own home in Sheffield by Terry Gifford. Describes his personal involvement in the local carolling tradition, and singing as a youngster in the Stannington area of Sheffield; carol singing at Jedburgh Horse Fair; attraction of the carols in the stories they tell; singing at Crosspool in Sheffield; carols and community; Stannington carol tradition; accompaniment (piano versus organ); singing at Bradfield; conviviality of carol sessions. Interview carried out as part of the research for the BBC Radio Sheffield broadcast, 'A People's Carol'[see tape LAVC/SRE/A189r].
