[Collector announcement]; Edith Davis, recorded at home in North West London, talks about her early childhood in the Gloucestershire village of Made for Ever; schooling (fish and chip lunches), villagers, helping milk cows, villagers' occupations, farm labourers, shoe factory at Kingswood; how the village got its name; father's job as steward on the liner Royal George; caring for animals; moving to Easton-in-Gordano (Avonmouth, near Pill) at the age of thirteen; describes a Harvest Tea, and talks about the class distinctions shown in the seating arrangements, villagers' attitudes to the informant's family; discusses her family members; moving to London at the age of seventeen.
