James Knights of Woodbridge [?recorded in 1968] talks about his work with horses; as horse man; learning from the age of thirteen; working in Yorkshire; horses' stables; travelling a stallion; going to Yorkshire, aged about fourteen; tonics for horses, using poison berries; treatment of horses and calming stallions; different temperaments between horse breeds; work with horses, leading a drill; acres drilled per day; importance of time and weather when drilling; pride/interest in his work; linseed cake for horses' coats; commands to horses (different in Yorkshire); describes a working day and living in; ploughing with horses; biographical details; working in Burton upon Trent, barley carrying and at a malthouse; Suffolk and Norfolk men taking seasonal jobs in Burton, in October after the harvest; describes work and conditions in the malthouse, turning and baking the malt; JK's singing and learning through his sister; lodgings in Burton. James Knights talks about his lodgings in Burton; sings 'Curly Williams' and [unidentified].
