Description
J. Burdekin of Burdekin's Baskets, recorded in his workshop in Ossett; describes how to make a laundry hamper, talks about the properties of cane, apprentices and keeping willow damp [male and female ask questions]; JB describes what is happening in the workshop [voices obscured at times by noise of machinery]; [outside] examines cane chairs, bought from Spain; [machinery noise]; talk of canes used; examines imported (cheaper) items - furniture, mats and other items in the store room; brief conversation with one of JB's employees re. names for tools; [engine noise obscuring conversation - ?tape recorder left running whilst travelling in a coach.] The tour of his workshop, factory, showroom and storerooms, led by J. Burdekin, was organised for the benefit of a group attending a Museums Association Diploma Curatorial Course in Folk Life and Local History field trip.
