Description
[Collector announcement]; Ripon Sword Dancers, recorded in the streets of Ripon, perform the Ripon Sword-Dance Play. Includes singing at the start and finish; and comments by the performers whilst walking between locations - history of the tradition, props used, the words, number of performances, advertising for swords, the need for five or six performers, the collection; followed by a recording of harmonica playing [?in a pub], and conversation with one of the sword-dance play performers (performing for the first time). Further performances in local pubs, outside and in the Legion Club. One performance recorded in someone's ?house. Traffic noise obscures the speakers' voices on a number of occasions. Continues on tape LAVC/SRE/A517r. 21 of 39.
