[Side 1] Sarah tells anecdote about sending younger brother to school exam with collar upside down, recalls working half-time at mill till aged 12, discusses wages and leisure pursuits in past, recalls once walking to Halifax with hole in, tells series of anecdotes about courting and buying whisky liqueur in Sowerby Bridge. [Side 2] Sarah tells anecdote about rat eating husband's 'jock' [= packed lunch], describes repeated attempts to catch it incl. chasing it while holding candle and burning husband's shirt, explains how it escaped through cellar to next door neighbour where it was eventually caught by a friend's dog. Note: Recording date 1956-10-01 noted by ear, 1956-10-05 written on lacquer disc label.
