[Side 1] Leslie talks about building, explains importance of damp course to ensure watertight joint in brickwork, discusses cider made on press at local farm, tells anecdotes about playing truant incl. bathing in river with brother (interviewer's father) and pretending to get lost in thick fog during walk to school. [Side 2] Grace tells anecdote about ghost at rectory gates, describes making butter using 'Scotch hands' [= pair of wooden paddles used in butter-making], compares work ethic and working conditions now and in past, comments no dinner break or holidays except Christmas Day and Good Friday granted by Factory Act (1833), performs riddles describing traditional 'fire dog' [= andiron/metal stand for supporting burning wood in fireplace], 'crook' [= hook in chimney for hanging pot/kettle over fire] and 'crock' [= iron cooking pot] and 'lily-hanger' [ = cow's teat].
