Description
[Side 1] Henry reflects on changes in farming, talks about ploughing with horses, describes harvesting in past incl. mowing by hand, memories of 'leasing' [= gathering leftover corn] after harvest and taking corn to mill for grinding, recalls mother baking bread in village bakehouse, explains previous house had two brick ovens heated with 'faggots' [= bundle of sticks used as fuel]. [Side 2] Henry compares price of beer and ale now and in past, reflects on long working hours in past, recalls trimming horses for journeys, explains how to shear sheep, describes 'thrail' [= flail] used to thresh corn in past, comments still works 4 hours a day on estate e.g. building and repairing walls.
