Description
[Side 1] John compares living conditions now and in past, describes typical day on farm in past, recalls drinking cider and eating bread and cheese during haymaking, talks about making cider with 'pommy' [= crushed apples used to make cider] and cider press, comments some men drank 2 to 3 gallons a day, discusses working with horses and mowing by hand, mentions low wages in past. [Side 2] John talks about cutting trees with 'pit-saw' [= long saw with handles at each end used for cutting timber], recalls eating rabbits during World War Two, briefly discusses son's dog, compares quality and taste of pork and bacon now and in past, explains how to make butter in churn.
