[Side 1] Townson explains difference between ploughing match and drawing match, ploughing match requires competitors to plough whole 'stetch' [= area of land ploughed in both directions] using own horses, drawing match requires competitors to plough single furrow as straight as possible between marker posts set at ether end of field using horses drawn by lots, talks briefly about traditional method of malting. [Side 2] Albert explains own nickname 'Rickety' dates back to first job as bricklayer's boy, describes occasion he was whitewashing ceiling of schoolroom and colleague called him 'Rickety' due to squeaky stepladders, tells anecdote about local character in past.
