[Side 1] Walter describes in detail how to build stack, explains role of various members of stacking team incl. loader, 'unpitcher' [= man on waggon unloading sheaves], stacker, backer-up and 'bully' [= man who passes straw from unloader to stacker], explains how to thatch stack with wheat straw, incl. use of 'broaches' [= thatching rods] typicaly made of 'osier' [= willow branch]. [Side 2] Walter talks about sheep farming incl. mating season and lambing season, discusses grazing and feeding with swedes and turnips, explains selection of sheep for market, recalls driving sheep early to Docking station for 4am cattle train to Kings Lynn, briefly discusses wages, recalls need for 'char-hole' [= hole left in stack for man to stand and receive corn from pitcher] for building tall stacks before introduction of 'elevator' [= machine used for raising hay/straw to top of stack], comments often stacked more corn with traditional method using staging than with elevator, talks about storing corn in barns, explains high doors in barns allowed full waggon to enter and low doors used for exit.
