Description
[Side 1] James talks about ploughing, explains use of 'scuffle' [= attachment used to turn over heavy soil] and harrow to remove rubbish and weeds for burning, describes how to trim and 'lay' hedge [= intertwine branches of brushwood to form/repair hedge], discusses building and thatching 'rick' [= stack of corn]. [Side 2] James reflects on his love of farm work, recalls getting up at 4am to feed horses, describes gear used for draught and trace horses, briefly discusses recent potato crop, describes regular visits of brother-in-law, comments no mains water supply to house.
