Description

[Side 1] George talks briefly about keeping pigs, discusses shooting rabbits and pheasants before rheumatism affected his ability to shoot, recalls recent harsh winter when river froze over, briefly mentions swans and ducks at nearby Hartsholme Hall. [Side 2] George talks about decline in birds as farmers now plough over stubble more quickly than in past, describes building hide to shoot wood pigeon, recalls recent 'stitherum' [= palaver, convoluted story] with policeman over gun licence, briefly describes traditional method of building stack and comments modern harvesting techniques have reduced need for farm labour.
