[Side 1] George recalls starting work at quarry aged 16 carting clay by hand, discusses work on 'kill' [= kiln] making bricks, describes production of 'clinker' [= type of brick] after installation in 1912 of German kiln. Note: Recording date 1957-08 noted by ear, 1957-11-12 written on lacquer disc label. [Side 2] Bert recalls starting work aged 12, talks about enjoying working with team of horses, describes typical routine working with horses, recalls once ploughing thirteen acre field in preparation for seed drill, reflects on working conditions in past incl. wages.
