Description
[Side 1] Mrs. Mills describes traditional method of baking bread, crumble yeast into bread tin, add lukewarm water and flour, knead mixture adding warm water, flour bottom of tin and cover for hour and a half, grease and warm loaf tins, turn dough out and allow to rise for hour, place into 'het' [= hot] oven for hour, turn out and stand to cool. [Side 2] Mr and Mrs. Mills recall several pranks, incl. anecdote about large stone outside back of village pub that regular drinkers used to pick up and move, one night landlady painted the stone, 'fresh' [= drunk] customer picked it up and put his arm round woman and 'smitted' [= stained] her white dress, Mr Mills remembers people regularly removing gates and putting them in front of doors, memories of local tramp.
