Description
[Side 1] John talks about competiton run by Liverpool Post (local newspaper) in which prizes were given to anyone who spotted roving reporter, recalls giving lift to man up Kidsgrove Bank while out with waggon and later reading report in Liverpool Post about that journey and realising he had not recognised journalist. [Side 2] John compares living standards now and in past, describes conditions for farm workers in past incl. piecework, recalls 'whipping' [= threshing] rye by hand to extract grain.
