[Side 1] John talks about farm horses, lists typical feed, comments on series of photographs showing horses at work, names parts of 'trace-harness' [= harness for horse pulling plough] incl. 'hames '[= each of two curved pieces of wood forming collar of draught horse] and 'crupper' [= leather strap buckled to back of saddle passing under horse's tail to prevent saddle from slipping forwards], names parts of 'shaft-harness' [= harness for horse pulling cart] incl. 'ridge-tree' [= chain from shaft to shaft over saddle] and 'wanty' [= band placed round horse’s belly to harness it to shafts of cart] and 'breeching' [= strong leather strap passing round breech of shaft-horse enabling it to push backwards]. [Side 2] John describes parts of farm-cart, identifies series of farm implements from photographs incl. 'drag' [= muck-fork], reflects on relationship between man and horse.
