[Side 1] George talks about his experiences as miner, recalls starting as young lad coupling waggons, explains role of 'doggy' [= supervisor], describes pushing waggons with Davy Lamp in mouth, compares conditions underground now and in past, discusses different tasks. [Side 2] George recalls young lad suffering accident down mine due to cramped conditions, comments worked 45 years for same company then moved to deep pit in Stoke, explains water sent down by horse, tells anecdote about oversleeping but still making shift.
