[Side 1] Frank describes traditional waggons, recalls mowing corn with scythe and 'fag-hook' [= hooked scythe], explains importance of standing corn in 'shocks' [= groups of sheaves placed upright for drying], talks about building and thatching 'rick' [= stack] and use of 'spars' [= rod used to secure thatch], compares farming now and in past incl. practice of 'leasing' [= gathering leftover corn] after harvest, recalls farmer taking leasing-corn to mill for grinding and mother baking bread twice a week in brick oven with 'faggot' [= bundle of sticks used as fuel]. [Side 2] Frank discusses ploughing in 'cants' [= division of field], explains use of 'drill' [= horse-drawn machine for sowing seed] and importance of seed-harrow or sheep to cut top off strong early growth to produce newer thicker shoots of corn, describes how to 'lay' hedge [= intertwine branches of brushwood to form/repair hedge], recalls 'stockman' [ = cowman] preparing cattle for show, reflects on changes in farming, comments ditches and hedges no longer maintained as previously, discusses nature of roads before advent of steam-rollers.
