Description

M.A. thesis (School of Special Studies in Spanish) on certain roles of the woman within rural society in the north-west region of Galicia. Chapters cover the physical geographical and social conditions of the area, the villages taking part in the survey and the method of interrogation used there, the adolescent girl and courtship, the engaged girl and the bride, the married woman (and the mother/daughter-in-law relationship), the expectant mother and childbirth and the senior woman (and death). A map showing the location of the villages in the survey, a key to the villages and informants and a copy of the fieldwork questionnaire are included with the thesis.
