M.Phil. thesis in two volumes. Volume One contains a general introduction to the Somerset tales and traditions, including methods of collection and classification. The main body of the volume presents the classified traditions collected by the author in Somerset over a two-year period, an appendix of similar material from Dorset, and observations on all the material collected. Volume Two contains detailed annotation of the Somerset tales, and annotation to the Dorset appendix. The volume also contains bibliographies, lists of informants and the classification system and its index. Two Ordnance Survey maps of the Ilminster and Blandford Forum areas are included at the back of Volume One, with also a photocopy of a list of rebels involved in the Monmouth Rebellion.
