Wall Painting (Sweden)

Description

Slide of Ivares Daniel Andersson's wall painting, 'The Queen of Sheba'/ 'Drottningen av Saba', Rättvik (Dalarnas Lan, Sweden). The painting is an example of the Dalamälning style of folk art, which evolved in Dalarnas Lan from a simple desire to decorate rather austere and poorly-lit homes. The compositions painted by the Dalamälning artists were typically of a religious motif, focusing on Old Testament biblical passages, and New Testament stories of Jesus and his miracles. The painting is now housed in the Nordiska Museet, Stockholm. This slide is number 2 of a series of slides of wall paintings from the Nordiska Museet. Originally held in green slide cabinet, reference A30.
