Hay Ropemaking

Description

Two men (both standing) making hay rope, Lleyn Peninsula (North Wales). The men are using hand-held wooden devices, as pictured in LAVC/PHO/S607. Hay is wrapped around the groove on the tool, and the handle is turned at a consistent speed to twist the hay stalks together. Originally held in green slide cabinet, reference B114.
