Hay Ropemaking: Equipment

Description

Tools used for making hay rope, Lleyn Peninsula (North Wales). The tools consist of two hard wooden handles, one of which turns freely (to twist the rope), and a groove over which the the hay is fastened. To the left of the tools are two small hobbling ropes used for sheep or goats. Originally held in green slide cabinet, reference B113.
