Description
Elaborate 19th century chromolithographed trade card of Archer & Pancoast Manufacturing Co., depicting ornamental chandeliers at either side of company details. Trademark of company present behind text in centre of card, showing profile view of seated gryphon with gas light on its head in triangular frame. Both sides of gold medallion shown bottom centre of card, denoting 1875 award for 'best gas fixtures and bronzes'. Extensive manuscript pencil notes on reverse detailing poetic list of decorative items. Transcription: ARCHER & PANCOAST M'F'G. Co. MANUFACTURERS OF GAS FIXTURES, ORNAMENTAL BRONZES, CRYSTAL CHANDELIERS & CHURCH METAL FURNITURE. 68 70 & 72 WOOSTER ST. 67 GREENE ST, ABOVE BROOME. NEW YORK. PAT. EXTENSION CENTRE LIGHT EXTENDED.
