T. Sharples trade card
Description
Pictorial 19th century engraved trade card of T. Sharples [Thomas Sharples] with City of Liverpool Coat of Arms and motto 'Deus nobis haec otia fecit' at top of card. Bearers Neptune with trident to left and Triton with horn to right, liver bird [cormorant] in arms and on crest. Trader details in a variety of typefaces with decorative flourishes. Remains of previous brown paper mount and glue present on reverse. Transcription: Writing Desks, DRESSING CASES &c. Plated ARTICLES on STEEL in General. T. SHARPLES. Furnishing Ironmonger, GENERAL CUTLER AND SCALE BEAM MANUFACTURER. Stove Grates, FENDERS & FIRE IRONS. Iron & Brass Foundry Goods &c. No 66, Castle Street, Liverpool. TURN OVER
