H. Joseph trade card

Description

Highly pictorial 19th century chromolithographed trade card of H. Joseph, celebrating New Year 1867. Trader details in elaborate metalware frame with floral decoration in centre of card. Below this, various tools propped up at either side of circular panel depicting man and boy in workshop. Trader details in a variety of typefaces with decorative flourishes. Enamelled card or carte porcelaine with two tone coloured inks in pinks and oranges. Some damage on reverse where previous mount has been removed. Dutch transcription: NIEUW-JAAR-WENSCH 1867 OPGEDRAGEN AAN DE HEEREN ONTFANGERS, SURVAILLANTEN EN LEDEN der Maatschappij TIM[M]ERLIEDEN MEUBELMAKERS & SCHRIJNWERKERS, TE GENT, onder de bescherming van den H.
